About Fahad
What lessons do you offer?
I currently offer private lessons in voice, composition, and song-writing for emerging and established artists in Los Angeles from my home in Hollywood.
Who should take lessons?
My students are mostly adults and college students, with some high school age musicians that are particularly driven and hard working.
What will I be learning?
I teach in a variety of styles and genres of music from classical and broadway to rock and jazz. I have a doctorate in vocal performance and composition, and experience singing in opera, musicals, pop music, and jazz. IYou'll improve the most if you enjoy what you’re learning so we will work together to create a curriculum that’s just right for you and focuses on your interests in music.

How do you teach lessons?
Lessons are 55 minutes, either once or twice a week depending on the age and experience of the student. Each lesson is tailored to your individual needs whether that means learning to play music by ear, preparing for an audition, learning to read and write music, or getting ready for a night of karaoke.
How much do lessons cost?
Each lesson is $65, or students may purchase a set of 4 lessons for $200 (to be taken over 1 month).

I have a Doctorate in vocal performance and composition and have taught voice and composition for 10 years. I work with a diversity of musicians including Jazz and Musical Theater singers, songwriter and band leaders, as well as classical musicians.

For voice students, I usually begin assessing the student vocally, listening to them sing and gauging their experience. From there, I like to work from the student's interests (people tend to practice music they like) and we find contrasting pieces to work, two at a time. Lesson time is split between technique and applying the technique to the specific pieces. Once we are more comfortable with the music, we start diving into interpretation and musicality, bringing the piece to life.
For Composition Students, I typically start by reviewing existing pieces by the student to assess their strengths and where they might benefit from guidance. Composition lessons are typically a combination of theory, listening and analyzing music, and diving deeply into the specifics of how one might successfully write in a given style and medium
I typically work with adults students, college age and up. I occassionally work with high school students who are particularly committed to music.
Work with a teacher you trust and who leaves you feeling safe enough to take risks. Make sure you are working on music that you love, nothing will kill your creative joy more than being forced to work on something you don't care about.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The main question is, what are your goals? If you want to be on broadway than your lessons will be organized differently than if you want to feel great about yourself during karoake night.
