About Torrence
Hi! My name is Torrence and I am a Senior at Wheatland-Chili High School. I hope to go to college at either Georgetown or George Washington University, in hopes of one day either being a member of the public service or educator. I have in some capacity helped write two bills that have gone before the New York State Legislature. The first one to help rural schools afford the electric bus mandate, the other one I wrote with the help of my peers at Boys State to redefine the punishments for DWI and DUI. I have also written a peer-reviewed journal (pending publication) about the 1952 Democratic Convention. I am passionate about History and Politics and am eager to help in any way for someone to learn more!

As someone who has tutored kids (10-16) through classes, Regents exams, and summer school, I know that not every student is the same and that a variety of methods are needed to connect with a student. For me, getting someone to understand the motivations behind events in history is vital for them to process information. I also give students big picture ideas to think about, so they can break down events easier. And as a student currently in high school, I have a unique ability to relate concepts in history to things students already understand. It also allows me to make students interested in history which always encourages that they will remember it better.
