About John
For years, I have helped students all across the US improve their scores from 140-340 points on the SAT, landed scholarships such as Goldwater, Fulbright, National Merit Finalist, and Presidential Scholarship; and gained admission in top schools such as Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Southern California, Rutgers, among others.
I have helped students identify and get diagnosed with learning disabilities, such as ADD/ADHD, dyscalcia, ASD and advocate for testing accomodations.
I have worked with AP students, student athletes, first-generation college applicants, anxious test takers, learners with diverse learning styles, and much more. Students trust me because I have their best interests at heart.

Four years ago, I realized my talent for teaching when I opened my own private music studio in Beaverton, Oregon. Since then, I've had dozens of raving parents and highly successful students because of my energetic and passionate approach to teaching. My ability to explain difficult concepts and establish lasting connections with students was soon applied to academic subjects. I then landed a private contract with Varsity Tutors and was a top-rated tutor for years with a 5.0-star rating.
I am currently seeking my BS in Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas on a full-ride merit-based scholarship. My SAT was a 1510 (99.3% percentile) and a 23/24 on my essay. I was a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction. My academic strengths include writing, math, and reading. On the side, I am a nationally award-winning flute soloist and have received over $150,000 in scholarships for my academic merit and community impact.
I have taught privately and through big companies such as Varsity Tutors and Wyzant, where I hold a perfect 5-star rating in both platforms and a Top 10 Best Tutors recognition on this website.

I invite them to one of my free, unpaid Saturday full exam sessions and they take a full diagnostic test. We then sit together and determine the best plan of action.
I have tutored the entire spectrum of students: ambitious students who improve scores up to 410 points, busy students who juggle work and sports, and students with disabilities, such as dyslexia and ADHD.
It is one thing to hire a basic SAT tutor, but an entirely different thing to find an SAT tutor who cares!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Does the tutor truly care about your success?
How much experience does the tutor have?
Can you build a personal relationship with this tutor?

John is an exceptional tutor. He knows how to break down concepts and make them easy and fun to understand. My son went from a 940 on the SAT to 1300!
He is such a great fit for my daughter. She has learned a lot and it's only been two sessions. Thank you for helping her out with her homework!
We were blown away by the progress our son made in just a few months. He went from barely knowing how to type to building his own game—and more importantly, he was excited to do it every day.
My son has been taking online coding lessons with John, and it has been an incredible experience! My son has grown in confidence, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise in just a few weeks. John is a knowledgeable and patient instructor who knows how to make learning an enjoyable journey.
John is truly dedicated to student success and was vested in my well-being through the college search and application process. John is someone I would highly recommend.
Dani really liked John. He made her feel at ease and helped her a lot with problems she had difficulty completing. It was a good match. He is such a great fit for my daughter.
Very passionate about learning, makes you care about a subject as boring as the SAT!
Great SAT sessions. John was very patient and understanding
John helped me review Grammar tips in SAT that were very helpful. He also helped me learn how to understand how to answer certain questions that I had trouble with. I look forward to taking more lessons with him.
What an amazing, conscientious, thoughtful and hard working tutor!!! Don't let his age scare you. John was born to teach, help and assist others. He takes complete pride in his work and wants every single student to succeed. He is able to focus on their individual needs and areas they need to improve upon. He understands that they are busy with school work or extra curricular activities so he tries to keep homework assignments reasonable. If he's pushing your child it's because it's crunch time and only temporary! I find my son listens better to John telling him to work hard rather than me :) You will not be disappointed with John. He's the best tutor we have had to date. Now, basically, it's up to our kids to execute what he's trying to help them learn.
