About Lee
I believe that all students have the capacity to become curious, resilient and confident in their work. I love getting to know others and helping them identify their goals, strengths, and interests. I am many things besides an educator! Currently I am a writer, an artist, a rugby player, and a tour boat captain. I also have experience in journalism, law, hospitality, aquaculture, and community organizing.

My approach to tutoring is collaborative, adaptive, research-based, and culturally competent.
I am a Yale graduate (B.A. Political Science, 2017) and a CT certified educator with a master's degree (University of Connecticut 2025) in secondary English curriculum and instruction.
I borrow my techniques from a variety of instructional models including Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP), Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Understanding by Design (UbD). My practice is also heavily informed by my own experiences navigating the academic and professional world(s) with ADHD. Those experiences have not only taught me to work WITH (and not against) my own exceptionalities, but they have also made it easier for me to connect with students facing similar challenges.
A typical lesson plan will vary depending on the student and what they hope to get from our tutoring sessions. However, most will involve a brief opening exercise or informal assessment to gauge and activate the student's background knowledge and establish the focus of the day, followed by some combination of targeted instruction, guided practice, feedback, independent practice, and reflection.
I can work with middle, high school, or college students with a range of academic needs. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
