About Lisa

Teaching math is Lisa’s passion. She loves the level of rigor and commitment required to understand math, calculus in particular. Teaching students to push themselves to surpass their preconceived notions, to ultimately learn mathematics to their highest ability, brings her great joy. She believes exposure and experience are the key to deepening student learning. Student learning is individual, and it is essential to work with each student to build confidence and facilitate a plan for success. One of Lisa’s favorite highlights is when students are no longer intimidated by AP-style questions and start earning perfect scores on practice FRQs. Calculus is a powerful tool, and Lisa enjoys seeing her students experience pride in their personal growth. Calculus AB and BC content is her absolute favorite. She has been a College Board-approved AP Calculus BC instructor for 7 years and a Calculus AB instructor for 3 years, and she was employed by the College Board as a Calculus BC exam reader in 2020 and 2022. Lisa established a thriving AP Calculus BC program at her high school, increasing course enrollment from 8 students in 2016 to 22 students in 2022. Moreover, her students scored an 86% pass rate on the National AP Calculus BC Exam in 2022. Lisa is currently an Associate Mathematics Lecturer at a University in Wisconsin. In 2023 she earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with 18 graduate level mathematics credits from the University of Northern Alabama. She is also certified to teach high school mathematics, in the state of Wisconsin, with more than 20 years of classroom experience. Courses taught at the university level: Beginning/Intermediate Algebra, Algebra for Precalculus, Mathematics for Social & Management Sciences, Precalculus Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics Course taught at the high school level: AP Calculus BC, AP Calculus AB, Precalculus, Advanced Math, Algebra 2 Honors, Algebra 2 Regular, Algebra 1, Geometry, Geometry Skills, Applied Math, Prealgebra

Incredible progress on reviewing AP Calculus AB. We successfully completed two separate AB practice multiple choice exams. College Board AP Calculus AB FRQ released problems from 2022 & 2023 have been analyzed and strategies discussed. The 2023 problems were completed during tutor sessions, while the 2022 problems were assigned as homework. The 2024 FRQ problems are the current topic of discussion.

Excellent growth in mathematical vocabulary to describe the calculus concept needed to complete the problems. Strategies have been developed in sessions and are being utilized in the correct situations on future problems.

Significant growth in confidence of Calculus AB content and the ability to have fluid mathematical conversations pertaining to content.
