About Dr Kaidy

If you're struggling with psychology essays, research methods, or your dissertation, I can help you better understand the material, develop your own ideas, and produce rigorous academic work.

I’m a psychologist, researcher, and experienced teacher, and I enjoy helping people become more confident in subjects that initially seem complicated or intimidating.

I have a PhD in Psychology, an MSc in Research Methods (with distinction), and a BSc in Psychology (with first-class honours). I trained as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge for four years, applying behavioural science to difficult public health questions. I published 15 papers during this time, 11 as first author, which have been cited over 1,700 times.

I then spent several years teaching psychology and communication skills in different countries across Asia. This taught me how to adapt to different cultures and learning environments, and how to respond to diverse student needs.

For the past five years, I’ve worked independently as an academic consultant and writing coach, helping students and researchers plan and produce high-quality academic work, often on important or high-stakes projects such as dissertations, theses, and book chapters.

I’m especially interested in helping motivated students who feel that they should understand something but haven’t yet got it to click. Whether you’re struggling with a psychological concept, trying to understand which statistical test to use, planning a study, or wondering what your lecturer means by “be more critical,” I’ll help make the problem clearer and give you practical ways to tackle it.

I’m based in Brighton in the UK and teach entirely online, so I can work with students wherever they are.

If you’re looking for someone knowledgeable but approachable, who will take your questions seriously and adapt sessions to what you actually need, I’d be happy to help.

About the lesson

My approach is supportive, practical, and tailored to each student. I start by understanding what you're trying to achieve and where you're finding things difficult. We can then work together on the skills or knowledge you need to develop.

I aim to help you understand how to approach problems independently. Depending on your needs, we might work through a difficult psychology concept, deconstruct a journal article, practise interpreting research findings, plan an essay, work through research-methods questions, or examine feedback on an assignment and turn it into practical improvements.

I use explanations, worked examples, and discussion, with lots of opportunities for you to apply the ideas yourself. For academic writing, I focus on how to develop clear arguments, evaluate evidence, structure literature reviews, and communicate ideas precisely. For methods, I help you understand the reasoning behind methodological decisions rather than simply memorising procedures.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although 90-minute sessions can be useful for dissertation work or more substantial writing projects.

My course covers psychology in consumer behaviour, so I sent him some theories and questions that I was struggling with. He explained the complicated terms and graphs in simple, easy-to-understand language that was easy for me to digest. He also included real-life examples to help me understand the concepts better.
