About Anthony
I'm Anthony, a final-year medical student from the University of Sydney. I am a non-traditional student who originally had no intention of pursuing anything academic. However, years later I found myself studying a BA in Philosophy, which was followed by medicine. Over the years I have helped both High School and university students (engineering, sciences and the humanities) improve their essay writing and comprehension skills; I believe these are poorly taught during the early years of formal education. I am eager to teach people using novel approaches to essay writing and to 'tease out' the more frustrating elements of comprehension and literacy. Given my varied educational background, I can cater to students who struggle with the basics or can adapt my skill set to high-level academic English as required. I am also able to help refine writing and comprehension skills in other disciplines too - just let me know what is required.
I am strive to offer a safe space to gender diverse students, individuals from non-English speaking backgrounds and also to those who struggle financially.

I take a holistic approach to tutoring humanities subjects drawing on my background in philosophy and sociology to tailor lessons to my students of all ages and from a variety of disciplines. I am eager to help prospective medical students improve their essay writing for GAMSAT S2 and am equally happy to help individuals develop a framework and approach for S1.
For school students, I am happy to follow a curriculum-based approach for HSC and IB, but I prefer to help my students learn by adapting my content and resources to their interests. I think the basics of English are taught poorly in school systems and I strive to give students the time they need to develop a comprehensive understanding of essay structure, form and writing technique. I'm happy to proof-read essays and troubleshoot issues with grammar and syntax as required.
Lessons are typically 60-90 minutes depending on what is requested/required.
