About Tommy
Since I started tutoring a little over year ago, I felt a sense of fulfilment helping my students improve. I take great pride in helping my students turn their weaknesses into strengths, and my main goal is enabling students to gain confidence and achieve their academic goals. I am hardworking and I really care about the progress of students. It is my sincere aim to help them overachieve. I am also hugely passionate about the ancient world and I always look to demonstrate wider contexts so that students don't feel like they are learning in a vacuum. I am also recently DBS checked and on the update service.

I am relaxed, approachable and good humoured in my approach. That being said, I am just the right amount of old-school when it comes to learning things like grammar and the fundamentals. I like to encourage independent learning as a life-long skill, and I try not to spoonfeed answers to my students, allowing them to go through the mental processes to get there themselves. After a 60 minute lesson with it is my sincerest hope that the student walks out more confident than when they walked in, and the feedback I have had so far has been exclusively positive, so I hope to continue in that fashion! I have a first in Classical Languages and Literature from Oxford (so I am highly proficient in Latin, Ancient Greek and an array of Classical topics) as well as over a year's experience tutoring Latin and Classics-based subjects. I am confident tutoring these subjects up to and including A-level and IB standard, as well as assisting with university and Oxbridge application test/interview technique.

Details
