About Mary

Hi! I'm Mary, a passionate Florida elementary school teacher with experience teaching both first and third grade! I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and several years of experience working with children of different ages and learning abilities.

Teaching has always been a huge part of my life, and I truly love helping students discover what they're capable of! In addition to teaching in the classroom, I've worked with children through tutoring and summer camps.

Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with family, two dogs, Olive and Figo, and friends.

About the lesson

As a dedicated elementary school teacher with experience teaching all subjects. I believe every child learns differently and deserves an approach that meets their individual needs. My goal as a tutor to help students develop a genuine love for learning through confidence building, and strengthening those necessary foundational skills.

My Teaching Methods & Techniques

I use engaging, hands-on activities, differentiated instruction, and positive reinforcement to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. I focus on identifying each student's strengths and areas for growth, then tailoring lessons to their specific learning style and academic needs.

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like

Each session begins with a quick review of previously learned skills, followed by direct instruction, guided practice, and independent activities. I incorporate games, visuals, and interactive learning opportunities to keep students motivated. I also regularly check for understanding and adjust my instruction based on their progress.

What Sets Me Apart

As a full-time classroom teacher with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, I understand both how children learn and the importance of building positive relationships with students. My experience working with different learning abilities allows me to create a supportive, patient, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and celebrating their growth.

Who My Lessons Are For

I specialize in working with elementary-aged students in kindergarten through fifth grade, particularly in reading, phonics, reading comprehension, writing, and foundational math skills. Whether your child needs additional academic support, help building confidence, or even enrichment opportunities, I am committed to helping them succeed!
