About Penelope

I studied piano as a young child in Germany’s and France’s music schools.
As a teenager I studied with Professor Hagit Kerbel in Brussels, founder of the Musica Mundi school, and took part in the first student Musica Mundi chamber music camp in summer 1999.
Later in Paris, I studied piano with French pianist Nadine Wright and French-Canadian pianist Marie-Laure Boulanger.

I believe in constantly training and learning to keep my passion alive and play and teach piano the best I can.

Now based in London, I have taken piano lessons with pianist Vesselina Kolova and currently with pianist Dr. Charles Tebbs.
I took part in masterclasses with renowned pianists Timothy Barrat, Melvyn Tan and Graham Fitch, and also followed skype lessons and online masterclass with pianist Dr. Josh Wright.

I teach piano to children and adults beginner or confirmed players and am happy to prepare my students for graded piano exams. (ABRSM or Trinity College).
I teach in face to face or piano skype lessons. For kids, I teach after school or on Saturdays, and can teach adults in the mornings during weektime.

With each pupil being different, I aim to make each piano lesson engaging and fun and adapted to each pupil’s age, level and tastes.
In each piano lesson, I do a combination of theory & note learning, technique (scales and other exercises) that they can then apply on the pieces they are learning.

I am passionate about piano and love teaching and helping my pupils thrive and express themselves in their music. I believe music in general and piano opens up such a beautiful and enriching new world for both players and listeners and has lots of amazing benefits in all areas of our lives. It is a means of expression but also enhances our analytic and listening skills.
I’d be delighted to accompany you or your child on your piano journey !

Please contact me so we can schedule a first piano lesson, and we can then take things on from there.

Details

I charge £20 per half hour. For beginners, pre-grade students, I recommend a 30-minute piano lesson and for pupils preparing graded piano exams (Trinity College or ABRSM) and adults, 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the grade and level.
For younger pupils, we do beat clapping, singing while introducing them to theory and to their first piano pieces through musical games.
