About Amy
I have been teaching introductory French to undergraduate students for three years, whilst also completing my PhD in language acquisition (with a specialism in French). I have also been offering one-to-one French tutoring for two years, covering a wide range of topics including grammar, translation, comprehension, and speaking.
Prior to my PhD, I completed my undergraduate degree in French and Linguistics at the University of Southampton, graduating with first class honours.

I take a flexible approach to language tutoring, and can adapt my sessions according to whatever you want to focus on - whether that be vocabulary, speaking, translation, comprehension, or grammar.
Whatever the topic, I incorporate weekly "pre-work" and regular progress tests into my lessons to allow you to see how your language skills are developing, and to help us identify any areas that might need more work.
Above all, I pride myself in creating a relaxed and judgement-free learning environment that is a safe space for learners of French of all abilities. I understand that learning a language can be a source of anxiety, and am passionate about empowering my students to feel confident in their French communication abilities.
