Unlock Your Child’s Maths Potential with a Fully Qualified, London-Experienced Teacher
Does your child struggle with maths confidence, or do they need that extra competitive edge for upcoming exams?
I am a fully qualified British primary and middle-school teacher (QTS) with 14 years of in-class teaching experience spanning both prestigious London schools and international classrooms. I currently work as a Year 6 teacher at a top independent prep school in London, which gives me an inside track on exactly what it takes for students to excel.

I specialise in:

-Key Stage 2 (KS2) & Key Stage 3 (KS3) Maths: Seamlessly transitioning students from primary foundations to advanced secondary school concepts.

-11+ Maths Examination Prep: Targeted, high-impact prep to help your child ace their independent and grammar school entrance exams.
11+ Interview Coaching: Boosting your child's confidence and articulation for the crucial interview stage.

My Approach

I believe most maths hurdles stem from a lack of confidence and not knowing where to begin. My lessons are highly tailored to the individual, breaking down complex concepts into manageable, stress-free steps. Whether your child needs rigorous academic stretching, foundational gap-plugging, or curriculum-aligned revision, I work closely with parents to provide regular feedback and track measurable progress.

SEND & Learning Support Expertise
Having previously worked in dedicated learning support roles and at a SEND-specialised school, I am highly experienced in supporting students with dyslexia and dyscalculia. I adapt my pacing and visual tools to ensure every learner feels capable, supported, and motivated.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I began my teaching career in South Korea at the age of 23, teaching at a boys’ high school in a small rural farming community. It was an incredible learning experience and a significant step in my personal and professional development as a young teacher.

Working with students from a different cultural background sparked my passion for education and, in particular, for supporting international learners. Since then, I have spent over 14 years teaching and tutoring students of varying ages and abilities, helping them build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach and the topics you enjoy discussing with students.

I teach Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, 11+, 13+, and GCSE students. At Key Stage 2 level, I specialise in English and Mathematics, while also providing support in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and interview preparation for selective school admissions.

At GCSE level, my focus is English Language and English Literature. I particularly enjoy helping students develop a genuine appreciation for language, writing, and the texts they study. Watching a student grow in confidence and begin to engage critically with literature is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
  • Did you have any role models or teachers who inspired you?

I was fortunate to attend a highly regarded school in Southern Africa, where I was taught by exceptional educators who had a lasting impact on me. They maintained high expectations while providing the support and encouragement needed to help students succeed.

Many of my teachers generously gave their time outside the classroom to ensure we achieved our full potential. Their dedication, professionalism, and belief in their students left a lasting impression on me and continue to influence my own approach to teaching today.
  • What qualities do you think are required to be a good tutor?

Great tutors never stop learning. I often ask myself what kind of tutor I would want for my own child and strive to embody those qualities in every lesson.

I believe students thrive when they are challenged to achieve their best while also feeling comfortable enough to make mistakes, ask questions, and develop confidence. My lessons are supportive, engaging, and tailored to the individual student, balancing high expectations with a positive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your teaching career.

Having taught 11+ preparation for many years, both privately and as a Year 5 and Year 6 teacher at an independent preparatory school, I have had the privilege of supporting students through one of the most important stages of their educational journey.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work has been celebrating successful admissions to outstanding schools across London, Surrey, Manchester, Hong Kong, and Australia. Seeing students achieve goals they once thought were beyond their reach is always a proud moment.
  • What difficulties or challenges have you faced in your subject?

One of the biggest challenges is helping students reach their target level within a limited timeframe, particularly when preparing for entrance examinations or GCSE assessments.

Managing this pressure requires careful planning, clear communication, and a focused approach. My aim is always to ensure that students enter the examination room feeling well prepared, confident, and capable of performing at their best.
  • Do you have a particular passion?

My greatest passion is working with young people and helping them discover their potential. Education has always been at the centre of my career, and I hope it will remain a part of my life for many years to come.

Outside of teaching, I am an animal lover, enjoy attending dance and fitness classes, and love travelling—particularly when it gives me the opportunity to spend time with family in South Africa during the school holidays.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

I bring over 14 years of teaching and tutoring experience, a strong understanding of the British curriculum, and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed.

Over the years, I have supported students in gaining places at competitive independent schools and selective secondary schools, as well as helping many students improve their GCSE English Language and Literature outcomes. Every student is different, and I take pride in tailoring my lessons to meet their individual needs and goals.

I am highly organised, reliable, and exceptionally comfortable teaching online. Every lesson is carefully planned, engaging, and focused on building both academic skills and confidence. Most importantly, I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and motivated to achieve their best.
