About Maya
I am currently studying BSc Biology at the University of Nottingham and have developed a strong interest in the subject through studying Biology at both GCSE and A-level. I have always enjoyed Biology because it helps explain real-life processes, particularly in relation to human health, which has also influenced my interest in pursuing a career in medicine.
I want to teach because I understand that Biology can often feel overwhelming, especially at GCSE level, and I would like to help students feel more confident in the subject. I find it rewarding to explain ideas in a clear and simple way, and to help others understand topics they may have previously struggled with.
I would describe myself as friendly, patient, and reliable, and I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My goal is to help students not only improve their grades, but also feel more confident in their ability.

My lessons are designed to be interactive, engaging, and tailored to each student, rather than just going through content. I focus on explaining Biology in a clear and simple way, breaking down difficult topics so they feel more manageable and easier to understand.
I use questions, quick quizzes, and exam-style practice to keep students involved and check understanding throughout the lesson. I also use real-life examples where possible to make topics more interesting and easier to remember.
Lessons are adapted to each student’s needs, whether they want help with specific topics, revision, or exam technique. My aim is to build confidence over time and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace.
