About Helena
I am a second-year mechanical engineering student at the University of Nottingham with a range of extracurricular pursuits in robotics, biomedical engineering, magazine writing, netball and language learning. As someone who was fortunate enough to receive an academic scholarship to help fund my studies at one of the top private schools in the country, I understand that learning and tutoring both 1-1 and in smaller class sizes which focus directly on the student's progress is key to consistent improvement in exam and coursework grades.

Tutoring plans are designed to maximise productvity out of each session and replicate exam season revision techniques all year round which include:
1. Joint reading and discussions about content to solidify understanding
2. Develop summarisation and explanation skills through both timed activities and reviewing homework set
3. Going through mark schemes and exemplar essays to understand how to enhance exam technique
4. Marking and discussions of the student's mock essays and exams
Session details
- 60 minutes long
- Homework to be set and reviewed each sesion
- Grade 9 in GCSE history and geography and A* in A-Level History (A*s achieved in every exam paper and coursework submission)
Experience
1. Sixth form geography and history mentor (2 years) for younger students in my previous school
2. 1-1 personal tutoring experience (1 year) with a neighbourhood family with 2 kids in Year 8 and Year 10
