About Kai
I got A*s in Physics, Maths and Biology at A-Level in June 2026, and all 9s across the GCSEs. I sat AQA, Edexcel and OCR papers this summer, so I know the current specs and mark schemes rather than a version from ten years ago.
I tutored four GCSE students one-to-one last academic year. Each moved up two grades: 5 to 7 and 7 to 9 in Maths, 6 to 8 in Biology, 4 to 6 in Physics. The student who went from a 4 to a 6 and the one who went from a 7 to a 9 needed completely different things from me, and working that out is the part I actually enjoy.
I've deferred a place at Leeds for a year, so I'm tutoring full-time this year rather than fitting it around a degree. That means real availability and proper prep time between sessions.
Enhanced DBS checked and safeguarding trained. Online, one-to-one, weekday evenings and weekend mornings.

I know good grades come from a genuine understanding of the subject, and the skill of applying that understanding to questions; that's my approach to teaching
The first lesson is a diagnostic. I give you a topic list and past paper questions across the spec and find out where the gaps actually are. Usually it's narrower than people expect, and in maths it's often algebra sitting underneath a topic that looks like the problem.
After that we work through those areas and build exam technique on real papers and mark schemes. Maths is the subject where marks are lost in the method rather than the answer, so a lot of what I teach is how to set work out so the marks are there even when the final number isn't.
After every lesson I send a short email: what we covered, what went wrong, and what to work on before next week. Parents always know what they're paying for.
I'm patient and I'm good at explaining things in multiple ways, as no student learns the same. If your teacher's explanation hasn't clicked, that's usually a problem with the explanation, not with you.

Kai tutored my daughter through GCSEs last year and was superb.
He was super supportive and informative the whole way through, and kept me updated with regular emails after each lesson on what they had gone through.
This was an excellent experience, I've never had a tutor for one of my children go as above and beyond as Kai did. My daughter went from a predicted grade 4 to a grade 7 in 5 months with Kai's help.
I would highly recommend Kai to any parent looking for a high quality reliable tutor.Kai was a great tutor.
At the start of Year 11, my predicted grade for Physics GCSE was 4, and I got a 7!
The best part was that Kai felt like a mate more than a tutor, and for the first time, I didn’t dread school work!I am extremely impressed by Kai's knowledge, professionalism and ability to connect. My son was not keen on getting help, but Kai was able to create a friendly and constructive relationship with him from the start (during a trial lesson) . This allowed him to find a pleasant approach to the subject (maths) and supported him in finding strategies to learn and apply his knowledge.
I am very grateful to Kai because not only did he help my son achieve a very good GCSE grade (expected 5 to a 7 achieved :o) but also helped him build the confidence which will continue to support him in future endeavours.
Strongly recommend giving Kai a try!View more recommendations
