About Daniel
Hi there, I’m Daniel and I'm looking to take on some more GCSE maths students. I currently tutor mostly privately but also use Superprof from time to time. I’m a recent graduate from Trinity College, Cambridge, focusing on higher-tier exam preparation and structured problem solving. Much of my tutoring work so far has come through personal referrals, reflecting the trust families place in my structured and exam-focused approach
I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths, followed by an A* in A-Level Maths and an A in Further Maths. Alongside my degree, I’ve always enjoyed explaining maths clearly and helping others feel more confident with it though I've mostly tutored through private referrals up till now
I’m a friendly and patient tutor who knows that GCSE Maths can feel much harder than it actually is when students feel rushed or unsure about asking questions. My aim is to make lessons feel relaxed and supportive, so students feel comfortable slowing things down and saying when something doesn’t make sense
GCSE maths did not come naturally to me. I know that all it takes in many cases is looking at a problem a different way, and that can often be the difference between it all coming together, like it then did for me, and struggling to make sense of it all; so, I have been through the process of building up understanding towards the top grade (9), rather than just 'getting it' immediately, and I'll help you to do the same

In my experience, most students are far more capable of GCSE Maths than they realise. Difficulties often come not from ability, but from feeling rushed in lessons or feeling uncomfortable to speak up when something doesn’t make sense
My approach is calm and supportive, and I take the time to break concepts down properly so students can see why methods work, not just memorise steps. Studying Law at Cambridge trained me to explain complex ideas clearly and logically, which translates directly into helping students understand maths step by step rather than feeling overwhelmed.
I like to keep lessons clear and structured, but never stressful. We focus on understanding methods properly, practising exam-style questions, and building confidence step by step. I’m always happy to explain things in a different way or go back over something until it clicks.
I'd love to help, so get in touch!

Daniel was a massive help when we were studying for our maths GCSE. He'd often help me understand concepts I found difficult by taking things back to first principles and identifying the root of my confusion, something that many of my teachers couldn't do! Besides this, he's a patient and careful teacher who makes you feel comfortable asking questions, no matter how silly you think they may be. Would highly recommend!
I sat next to Daniel in A-level Business and regularly relied on him to help me understand more complex topics. He explains things clearly and calmly and is very patient when someone is struggling. He helped me get a good grade in the subject, which allowed me to go on and study at university.
I taught Daniel at A level and regularly saw their ability to explain concepts clearly to other students. They were confident presenting ideas to the class and good at breaking down more complex points in a way others could understand.
Daniel has always been incredibly patient when explaining maths to me. He's very good at breaking things down step by step and making complicated ideas feel manageable, without ever making you feel stupid for asking questions.
