About Lilly

I am a Geography student that owns their own website educating on Geopolitics, Geophysics and Ethics. I have voluntarily tutored multiple students from Years 9-11 in Geography within my local school which have now achieved exceptional grades within their GCSEs. Other than tutoring, I have powerful communication and motivation skills which I have gained from being Corporal in my local Army Cadets and being an Assistant Instructor at my Taekwondo club.

For those younger years not at GCSE Level (Years 7-9) I would first develop an intrigue and curiosity for the topic being taught by explaining its significance in the wider world or introducing the student to case study that has a sense of "magic" behind it. After this I would run through the theory in logical steps starting from the fundamentals, adding in cartographic and analysis skills to develop the next inference based part of the theory and then ask the student for his own conclusions and opinions based on the evidence and maps he has seen. Within human geography, I would then ask the student to produce one counter argument and weight up which has the most evidence-backing. Through logical deductions and hints, the student would develop their own expression and understanding of the geographical theory which results in faster recall, longer memory and increase of "critical thought". Within physical geography, I would do activities such as providing students statements and continuing to ask "Why" until they have explained the theory back to the fundamental point of teaching. This would improve analysis and recall skills as well as curiosity and enthusiasm. For students that may be struggling, I would involve more cartographic skills and annotations to develop a spatial understanding of the theory which has been proved to be effective. I cater strongly to individual learning methods, whether that be auditory, visual or spatial. I will provide pre-recorded videos running through longer answer questions logically and resources from my own website to broaden understanding further than the syllabus to help with knowledge application and unexpected context.
I have extreme patience which I have gained from being within Army Cadets yet I understand the balance between being assertive and appeasing.

If tutoring is preferred within the child's home, the fee would be £11/hr. If tutoring is preferred online, the fee would be £9.00/hr. If the tutoring lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours before the arranged time, the full fee will still be charged.
