About Nico

Hi, I’m Nico, a second-year student at Brown University studying Applied Mathematics. I have a passion for math and love helping students understand how math works, not just how to solve problems. I firmly believe that with the right approach, anyone can improve their math skills and gain confidence.

I offer tutoring for students in grades 6 through 12, covering everything from foundational math like pre-algebra and geometry to more advanced subjects like calculus. My goal is to make each lesson engaging and clear, ensuring that my students not only get the right answers but also understand the "why" behind them.

As a math major, I’m well-versed in a wide range of topics and have experience explaining complex ideas in a way that’s approachable and easy to grasp. I’m patient, encouraging, and always ready to adjust my approach to match each student’s unique learning style.

About the lesson

Teaching Method & Techniques:
Conceptual Clarity First: I believe in ensuring that students understand the "why" behind each mathematical concept. Whether it’s algebra or calculus, I break down each idea in simple terms and build understanding step by step.

Interactive Problem Solving: I engage students by guiding them through problems instead of simply providing solutions.

Active Feedback Loop: Throughout the lesson, I encourage students to ask questions, discuss challenges, and express confusion. I adapt my teaching based on their feedback to ensure they are not only following but truly grasping the material.

Growth Mindset & Encouragement: I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Mistakes are celebrated as opportunities to grow, and I focus on building confidence along with skills.

Typical Lesson Plan:
New Concept: Introduction to a new topic.
Guided Practice: We solve problems
together while providing hints and explanations to ensure students understand each step.

Independent Practice: The student works on problems independently while I monitor their progress, providing help only when necessary.

Recap: A summary of what we covered and potentially a look ahead to future topics.
