About Haridas

I am a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada and Madurai Kamaraj University, India. I received my Ph.D and M.Sc from Canada and M.Sc and B.Sc (Spl) Physics from India. Since graduation, I have taught Physical Science for over twenty years and used different effective teaching methods. I have also taught at Pikeville College as an adjunct professor and lecturer at Howard University and helped students of various backgrounds and ages. I began tutoring as a middle schooler, when my seventh grade teacher noted my sharp understanding and ability to explain complexities in ways my peers could better understand. I love teaching and tutoring because I am able to inspire students to do their best and see them grow and flourish over time—it is rewarding to see students understand something that was previously difficult for them. I have the privilege to state that I have started a STEAM lab and Varsity Soccer program at Belfry High School. I have mentored students and helped them carry out research on gold and silver nanoparticles for detection of cancer, build robots for nursery to check the conditions of the plants and compete at various competitions. I always take a flexible, dynamic approach and want my students to engage with concepts beyond textbooks and lectures. I engage their natural curiosity through differential and often experimental learning techniques, expanding that curiosity to the next level so that they build deeper connections with the material. to improve and encourage my students to give feedback on the methods so that I can better serve their needs. Ultimately, I want my students to take charge of their own learning journey to become empowered, successful critical thinkers. When I am not steeped in STEAM and coaching, I enjoy gardening and watching sports.
