About Julia
I am a violinist of 14 years and I began tutoring younger students while I was still a student myself 7 years ago. I received a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music this year where my primary instrument was violin, but I also learned how to play viola. I have experience teaching students in violin and viola. I am classically trained, but I have learned how to play in other styles such as jazz and blues. I have studied a variety of music-related subjects, such as: jazz and classical music theory, conducting, counterpoint, composition, music history of the European tradition, music history of the African diaspora, etc.

I have a personalized approach for all students; I will help with any material from school (if applicable) or create a curriculum from scratch depending on starting level and practicing habits. I have experience teaching students in elementary, middle, and high school, but I am open to students of all ages. I will help my students establish a good practice schedule and set short and long-term goals for their technique and performance abilities. By making goals with students themselves, I can make lessons much more interesting and engaging. I have substantial knowledge of music theory that I will bring into every lesson as it pertains to what we are working on.
