About Karunya
If you want to know about my qualifications – I have a native level of English; TESOL certification from Trinity College London and certified TEFL with distinction; BA in English Literature, Psychology, and Communication; Art therapy certification, and studying the neuroscience of learning. I have three years of experience in the field of education and mental health. I also write and perform in English in various countries.
I think what is more important to know about me is that I am passionate about language and teaching and I work hard to make my classes effective for each student according to their needs and interests. I like working with diverse people, I hope to get to know you and that we can share the English language!

My way of teaching prioritises the interests and strengths of the students to encourage your participation in the classes. I consider myself a guide that facilitates your learning processes.
I see language as a means of relationship – with the world and with other people – and I like to introduce it in my classes through a variety of sensory inputs (video, audio, text, physical materials, movement) , as well as contexts in which to use language (formal or informal) through different media and for different purposes (games, debates, creative or structured writing and speaking tasks).
I like to spend a portion of my classes exploring the unique aspect of English as a stress-timed language in which intonation, sound, and rhythm complement the word itself to generate meaning.
My classes are aimed at adolescents and adults (14+) of all levels and especially for general English, Communication, Exam preparation, Business English. Do not hesitate to ask me if you have a particular goal with English that I can help you with!
