I give the first tutoring lesson for free, to ensure that I am a good match for your child! After the first lesson, all lessons are scheduled and paid for individually. I charge $30 per hour for an online lesson, and $35 for a lesson at the student's home.

Here's a few more details on how I teach each subject and why it is important:
- Reading: phonics-based, beginning with phonics awareness and moving to decoding before finally expanding vocabulary and fluency
- Writing: handwriting, spelling, and punctuation that moves to the progymnasmata (classical writing exercises) and the traditional essay writing process
- Literature: good literature is the natural companion to reading and writing. It gives students opportunity to practice reading, imitate good writing, expand vocabulary, notice themes/worldviews, and develop a love of stories that leads to a love of reading and learning. Depending on the age group, these stories can be read to students or assigned for them to read.
- Latin: Latin is to the humanities as math is to the sciences. It is the hard part that teaches students to think rigorously, work hard, and truly understand their grammar and how language functions. Latin is the lanugage of Western civilization and shows up everywhere in the English language and in the background of American and European culture. I teach it using an interactive inductive/deductive blend.
