About Lara
Hello :)
I'm Lara - here to be your helping hand, mentor (and friend!) throughout your academic or professional journey in Architecture. I have 5+ years experience as an Architecture tutor, teacher and studio advisor, being familiar with most admissions processes, educational systems and learning styles at all degree levels (from high school to undergrad and graduate education).
In my academic and professional experience, I shaped my design approach as a combination of tactical clarity and a thorough understanding of context, material and discourse. I got my Bachelors in Architecture from the University of Cambridge in the UK and an MArch 1 AP from Harvard University GSD in the US. I also successfully applied and got scholarships to most top Architecture grad programs - plenty of experience with applications; can definitely help refine yours! Over the years, I also worked at various Architectural practices (and on a few independent projects) in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Romania and the US. I am excited to share my experience, insights and tips to help you achieve your ambitions (be it a University, job or simply, learning about Architecture).

I like to think of my teaching approach as personal and not prescriptive - always adapting to your ideas, vision or ambition. I don't think there is a single 'right' solution to anything in the Design realm - so we'll work together to find and refine the best solution that fits you and your work. Be it your admissions essay, your portfolio or studio work - I'm keen to foster a space of open communication and encouragement that is positive, yet critical for the development of your work. I'll make sure you leave each session with a clear plan of action in mind (or if designing, with plenty of inspiration!).
Depending on the type of tutoring needed, I create custom timelines for each student so that we can track and plan progress over time. I can also supplement essay/portfolio advice with theoretical introductory lessons on Architecture that could elevate your work (ie. intro notions on Architectural History&Theory, drawing or software workshops etc)
