About Sophie
Hi everyone! I am Sophie and I am very excited by the opportunity to help you progress in English! I have just graduated from Sheffield Hallam University and am now undertaking my teacher training degree with the University Of Derby, in Primary ages 5-11. I have been working within a primary school since graduating, helping with English and phonics interventions. I have experience in working with SEND students and have the ability to adapt lessons to each pupil's needs. I create a supportive environment where each child feels they have the ability to progress, get things wrong and can be themselves! I believe that in building positive relationships, a student's success will skyrocket!

I adapt each lesson to students' specific needs, I focus on building from the ground up as all knowledge needs a foundation, I use encouragement with questioning and will celebrate the small steps. I use real-world examples with my teaching and use retrieval techniques to check progress regularly. . Interactive teaching . Breaking complex topics into more simple, manageable steps . Encouraging active participation . A soft approach A typical lesson will last around 60 minutes, but this can be adapted to the needs of the student. I have experience in leading English intervention sessions within Primary schools, alongside phonics 1:1 support. I am also studying teacher training. I have the experience of the GCSE English curriculum, both Language and Literature. I have experience in SEND children and am very excited by the opportunity to work with students from different backgrounds. My lessons are for Primary level students (FS to Year 6) and GCSE English Language and Literature.
