About Emma
I grew up in a family of teachers and loved school so much I took every opportunity I could to step into a tutoring/aide role. I have worked as a teacher's aide in classrooms for 5-6 years, as a Paraeduator for another, and tutored students 1-on-1 for 3 years.
A little over a year ago, I earned my Bachelor of Arts form George Fox University in English Literature. I am currently working towards my Master of Arts in English from McGill University.
I am from Portland, Oregon, but have been living on the East Coast more recently. I love sports, reading, and gardening.
Teaching is one of my favorite things to do and it helps me sharpen my own English skills! I am excited to get going.

I always approach students personally first. Getting to know you helps me to understand how you tick and what are some of the best approaches for learning.
Whether there are a lot of assignments or just one that you need help with, I like to implement assignment-mapping. This helps us have a better scope of where we're going in the lesson, or for the week! Getting organized will help set you up for success. Next, we will assess a starting point based on your learning style!
My recent school experience, coupled with my history working remotely help me to facilitate online lessons with ease.
I work with all ages and all grades. I have done the most tutoring for grades 6-12 and writing for college courses, but I also work with young students from K-5th grade.
