About Julie
Hi! I’m Julie, a law student with a strong background in writing, public speaking, advocacy, and academic reading.
Before law school, I studied at UC Irvine, where I competed extensively in collegiate mock trial and later coached other students in argumentation, case analysis, and presentation skills. I also have professional experience working in the legal field, where clear writing, close reading, organization, and effective communication were essential parts of my work.
I especially enjoy helping students take ideas that feel confusing or disorganized and turn them into something clear, structured, and persuasive. Whether you need help understanding a difficult reading, organizing an essay, strengthening your grammar and writing, preparing a presentation, or becoming more confident speaking aloud, I aim to make the process collaborative and low-pressure.
I know that students learn differently, and I am patient about finding explanations and strategies that actually make sense to the individual student. My goal is not simply to fix one assignment, but to help students develop skills they can continue using independently in school and beyond.

My approach to tutoring is centered on making reading, writing, and communication skills feel practical and understandable rather than overwhelming. I tailor each lesson to the student’s specific goals, whether that means improving reading comprehension, strengthening an essay, developing clearer arguments, preparing for an oral presentation, or simply becoming a more confident writer and speaker.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student is working on and where they are getting stuck. From there, I break the skill or assignment into manageable steps. For writing, we may work through brainstorming, organization, thesis development, paragraph structure, evidence, editing, and revision. For reading and literacy, I focus on active reading strategies, identifying main ideas and important details, understanding difficult passages, and learning how to explain what a text means in the student’s own words. For oral argumentation or presentations, we can work on organization, persuasive reasoning, delivery, confidence, and responding to questions.
What sets me apart is my background in advocacy, competitive mock trial, and legal education. I have extensive experience analyzing complicated material, constructing persuasive arguments, and communicating those arguments clearly both in writing and aloud. I also understand that not every student learns in the same way, so I try to explain concepts from multiple angles until we find the approach that clicks.
My lessons are best suited for middle school, high school, and college students seeking help with English, essays, reading comprehension, academic writing, presentations, persuasive speaking, or oral argumentation. I am also happy to work with students who simply want additional practice becoming clearer and more confident readers, writers, and communicators.
