About Cara
I have always really enjoyed communicating and meeting new people and I find teaching an amazing way to pursue both these passions. I have always found myself being drawn into teaching in different countries than my own, allowing me to also discover a new culture and experience life in a new way. Having now worked in many different classrooms in many different countries, I feel confident and comfortable and have a lot to bring to tutoring.

My teaching approach is highly communicative and student-centred. I focus on helping learners build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing through meaningful interaction and real-life contexts. Each lesson is designed around the student’s goals—whether that’s improving fluency, preparing for an exam, or learning for travel or business. I often use authentic materials (videos, songs, articles, dialogues) and interactive exercises to make learning both effective and engaging. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, though I also offer 30- or 90-minute sessions depending on the student’s schedule and learning needs. I have a degree in French and Italian as well as a TEFL qualification. I have many years of experience working as an English language assistant in Italy, France and Hong Kong working with kids from 6 through to adults. My lessons are suitable for students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers seeking to refine their accuracy and fluency. I adapt my methods to suit each learner’s age, learning style, and objectives—whether that’s conversational practice, academic support, professional communication, or cultural immersion.
