About Cyrus

You Deserve a Tutor You Can Trust

Choosing a tutor means trusting someone with more than an assignment or an upcoming exam. You're investing your time, money, and confidence in someone who should take your education as seriously as you do. I believe that trust should be earned.

My approach to tutoring is grounded in advanced academic training, university-level teaching experience, published scientific research, and professional experience across multiple disciplines. My graduate-level scientific education includes specialized training in neuroscience and neuropharmacology, and my broader academic background extends into healthcare, business, and law. I have contributed to scientific publications and have experience teaching and communicating complex material at both the basic-science and graduate/doctoral levels.

Those credentials matter—but what matters even more is what I can do with them for you.

I have spent years learning how complicated information can be researched, analyzed, understood, and ultimately communicated to other people. Whether we're discussing organic reaction mechanisms, biochemical pathways, molecular interactions, or foundational chemistry, I want you to leave our sessions understanding why something works rather than simply memorizing enough information to survive the next test.

Professionalism You Can Count On

When you work with me, you can expect a tutor who arrives prepared, treats you with respect, listens carefully to what you are struggling with, and adapts lessons to your individual needs. I understand that asking for tutoring can sometimes be intimidating. My sessions are designed to be supportive, judgment-free, and academically serious without being unnecessarily stressful.

I will never make you feel embarrassed because you don't understand something. Instead, we'll identify exactly where the confusion begins and rebuild the concept from there.

My interdisciplinary background also gives students something relatively unusual: multiple ways of looking at the same problem. Chemistry connects to biochemistry; biochemistry connects to pharmacology; pharmacology connects to neuroscience and medicine. Rather than teaching these subjects as isolated collections of equations and vocabulary, I can help you see how they connect to the larger scientific world.

Your Success Is the Measure of a Good Lesson

My objective isn't to impress you with what I know. It's to help you become confident in what you know.

A successful session should leave you able to approach material that previously intimidated you and think, "I know how to start this." Over time, I want that confidence to become independence.

Whether you're trying to pass a difficult chemistry requirement, earn a competitive grade, prepare for college or graduate-level coursework, strengthen your scientific foundation, or simply prove to yourself that you can understand this material, I will meet you where you are and help you move forward.

I offer flexible Zoom-based instruction seven days a week, with highly flexible scheduling including late-night and unconventional hours when available, because demanding academic schedules don't always fit neatly into traditional business hours.

When you choose me as your tutor, you're getting more than someone who knows the answers. You're working with an experienced, highly educated professional who understands research, teaching, and advanced science—and who believes that knowledge becomes valuable only when it can be communicated clearly to someone else.

My credentials establish why I can teach you. The way I treat you, teach you, and invest in your progress is how I intend to earn your trust.

Learn the Science — Don’t Just Memorize It

Chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry can feel overwhelming, especially when a course moves quickly and you are expected to understand complicated concepts while simultaneously preparing for exams, labs, and future professional programs. My goal as your tutor is to make those subjects understandable, approachable, and useful.

What makes my tutoring different is the range of academic and professional experience I bring to each lesson. My graduate training includes neuroscience and neuropharmacology, along with advanced education spanning science, healthcare, business, and law. I have also participated in scientific research and publications and have experience teaching and working with students at both the basic-science and graduate/doctoral levels. That background allows me to explain difficult scientific concepts from several different perspectives until we find the approach that makes sense to you.

I don't believe effective tutoring means simply giving a student another lecture. Our sessions are interactive and personalized. We can work through difficult homework problems, review lectures and course material, prepare for examinations, strengthen foundational chemistry skills, analyze scientific papers, develop study strategies, or break complicated biochemical mechanisms into manageable steps.

One of my greatest strengths as an educator is connecting the "what" to the "why." Instead of asking you to memorize an organic chemistry reaction or biochemical pathway without context, I want you to understand why it happens, how the pieces connect, and how the same concept appears in medicine, pharmacology, neuroscience, and the biological sciences. Once you understand those connections, material that initially seemed like hundreds of unrelated facts often becomes much easier to remember and apply.

I also understand that students have different learning styles, schedules, strengths, and academic goals. Whether you're struggling to pass a required chemistry course, trying to turn a B into an A, preparing for college or graduate school, or simply trying to understand a professor whose teaching style isn't working for you, we'll build our sessions around what you actually need.

Services I Can Provide
Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Biochemistry tutoring
College- and university-level science preparation
Exam, quiz, midterm, and final-exam review
Homework and problem-solving guidance
Scientific literature and research-paper comprehension
Study plans, organization, and test-preparation strategies
Foundational review for students who need to rebuild chemistry fundamentals
Graduate and professional-school science preparation
Individualized explanations, practice questions, and concept reviews
Flexible Zoom tutoring available seven days a week, including unconventional hours when scheduling permits

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions. There is no such thing as a "stupid" question in my sessions. If something doesn't make sense, we'll approach it differently. If you're missing a prerequisite concept, we'll identify it and fix it rather than simply pushing ahead.

You aren't hiring me simply to help you finish tonight's chemistry assignment. My goal is to help you develop the reasoning skills and scientific foundation that make the next assignment, the next exam, and the next course easier too.

If you're looking for an approachable tutor who combines advanced scientific training, research and publication experience, doctoral-level teaching experience, and a genuinely interdisciplinary perspective, I'd be glad to work with you.

Bring me the concepts you think you can't understand. We'll work through them together until you can explain them back to me.
