About Maria Eleni
As a student in high-school, I found that I never quite resonated with teachers who were much older than me. The power dynamic was always overwhelming, I saw myself working much better with a teacher who was closer to my age as that made me feel more comfortable to be myself. This is what I want for my students, to see me more as a peer at a further level of study rather than be intimidated.
Rather than taking notes and cultivating knowledge the old fashioned way, I would much prefer to structure my lessons conversationally - this is an invaluable skill which I believe is important for students to develop both before and during university, and one which will aid them in becoming independent thinkers over the course of our lessons.

Having achieved A*'s in my A-Level English Language & English Literature, and also an upper second class honours in my Bachelor's degree, I am well practiced in linguistic analysis and following mark schemes while finding different angles with which to interpret texts - this is what lessons will strive to emulate - both online and in-person. Typically lessons will range between 30minutes to 75 minutes.
Essay writing lessons will focus on developing an analytical approach to given texts within the curriculum. GCSE and A-Level sessions will be heavily influences by the designated Assessment Objectives where there is a clear outline for the mark scheme. With Undergraduate essay writing, lessons will capitalise on reading analytically and developing effective research skills.
For admissions essays, lessons will focus on asking the student crucial character and experience questions and later will teach them how to put the information together coherently within a personal statement or letter of admission.
