The two concepts that are at the heart of my teaching philosophy are goal-setting and adaptation. Setting goals and tracking progress is essential in using our time wisely (saving you money) and making sure you feel comfortable with the material as soon as possible. By adaptation, I mean flexibility; years of teaching have led me to believe that more important than the science or math I know is how well I can tailor a lesson to a specific student. No single approach or lesson structure is universally applicable. That being said, my lessons generally consist of a "lecture" (more of a conversation) about the subject matter, followed by going through practice problems together and identifying further needs.
I specialize in teaching upper level Biology and Chemistry courses (e.g. Biochemistry), and have years of experience in all sciences and math for high school students. This may seem like a broad spread, but I am confident that my 9 years of undergraduate and graduate work have prepared me well.
