About Latonia

Electric technique, acoustic technique, fingerpicking, songwriting, lead guitar, improvisation and soloing, blues progressions, scales and modes, rhythm guitar and reading tabs are my primary tools. I am a self-taught player with 15+ years of gigging experience under my belt. I honestly find it hilarious when people overthink their first chords.

My teaching style is quite playful because I would rather you attempt it badly in front of me than perfectly on your own. Most of my work involves untangling the one specific thing that is actually blocking you. It is deeply satisfying to watch a student stop stressing about perfection.

About the lesson

Grabbing your instrument and playing that first shaky note happens immediately during our kickoff. You can expect a very hands-on approach where we treat your guitar as a compositional tool instead of a performance instrument.

I provide a personalized monthly recorded review of your progress to help you track your improvement and celebrate how far you’ve come. This helps us see if we are making real headway. Do you have a song idea ready to build today?
