About Jenny
As a School Psychologist, Behavior Specialist, and educator with over 20 years as a mental health therapist, school-based practitioner and education consultant, I have extensive experience in Preschool, Special Education, and K-12 systems, and out-of-school programs, as well as expertise in trauma-informed approaches as a researcher and consultant at Washington State University.
My passion is helping families build peace and cooperation at home, teach children how to recognize and manage dysregulation and support skills building and independence through easy-to-manage strategies and routines.
The hours between the after-school pickup and bedtime shouldn't be a battleground. Whether your child is a preschooler struggling with transitions, an elementary student having homework meltdowns, or navigating a specific diagnosis like ADHD, I look at the whole picture. Working within the norms and capabilities of the adults, I can also help build parent capacity to foster peace and collaboration and support adults in learning their own triggers and find means to alleviate common causes of conflict and disruption
Using data-based interventions and collection of data to measure progress and ensure interventions are successful, families drive the goal-setting process and are provided with evidence of the efficacy of the program.
This includes observations, a written progressive intervention plan and frequent monitoring of measures of success.
I work directly in your home, school or other environment and within your family ecosystem to build positive relationships, routines, emotional coping skills, tools and strategies to transform your interactions and peace.
I also support children in school or other environments children have difficulty navigating or engaging in prosocial behaviors to promote healthy coping strategies and build resilience and perseverance to benefit from educational or enriching activities and opportunities. In addition, I have insider knowledge of school systems to ensure those home habits transfer seamlessly into classroom success.

3.Regulation & Coping: Teaching kids concrete, age-appropriate tools to manage big emotions, frustration, and after-school sensory burnout
4..Independence & Focus: Helping children master task initiation and organization so parents don't have to micromanage homework or chores.
5.Early Childhood Support: Using play-based behavioral interventions for younger learners to build attention stamina and transition readiness.
6.Building Practical Strategies for School (My Systemic Edge)I use my background as a school psychologist to pull back the curtain on the education system and bridge the gap to the classroom:
7. Evaluations Demystified: Helping you interpret psychoeducational testing, school data, and rating scales so you understand exactly what your child's scores mean.IEP & 504 Navigation: Translating complicated school plans into practical home habits, and ensuring your home interventions mirror school accommodations

My Lesson Philosophy: Fluid Pacing, Tailored Interventions, and Real-Life PracticeChildren are not robots; their energy, sensory capacity, and emotional regulation fluctuate day by day. Forcing a rigid schedule on an overwhelmed child only leads to behavioral burnout and meltdowns.
My approach combines absolute empathy and flexible pacing with the clinical rigor of school psychology. While our sessions fluidly adapt to meet your child’s immediate mood, everything we do is anchored in a highly structured, data-driven action plan. Most importantly, we don't just talk about coping skills—we conduct real-world observations and engage in real-life practice to ensure these behaviors transfer naturally to the real world.
How We Build and Execute Your Data-Based Action Plan:The Initial Intake & Naturalistic Observations: We begin by examining your child’s unique learning and behavioral fingerprint. I review any existing school evaluations, IEP data, or behavioral bottlenecks you notice at home. To truly understand the root cause of these challenges, I can conduct targeted behavioral observations in your child’s natural environments—whether that is observing their transitions at home during high-stress routines or observing their focus and social interactions at preschool or school. This observation data allows me to identify exact environmental triggers and design a flawless strategy.
The Fluid, Adaptive Session: On any given day, our pacing moves fluidly based on your child's emotional capacity. If they arrive exhausted from a hard school day, we pivot to low-demand emotional regulation and sensory de-escalation interventions. If they are regulated and focused, we lean into high-engagement executive functioning habits, task initiation strategies, or early childhood readiness milestones.
Targeted Interventions in Action: Because every brain is wired differently, I draw from a vast toolkit of specialized interventions tailored to specific needs:For executive functioning: Custom task-chunking, visual checklists, and structured time-management frameworks. For emotional regulation: Dialed-in coping scales (like Zones of Regulation), mindful breathing exercises, and self-advocacy scripts. For motivation & behavioral gaps: Individualized token economies, collaborative screen-time/reward agreements, and positive reinforcement systems designed around your child’s intense personal interests.
Real-Life Practice & Community Integration: True behavioral success means generalizing skills outside of a quiet room. Once your child masters a coping strategy or routine in a controlled environment, we take it into the real world. We will actively practice managing impulses at a local park, handling transitions at the playground, navigating sensory overwhelm at a busy local business, or utilizing focus strategies in public spaces. This ensures they can confidently use their tools when you need them to most.
Real-Time Data Collection & Parent Hand-Off: Even during our most active or adaptive real-life moments, I am tracking behavioral data (such as duration of focus, frequency of self-regulation tools used, and task compliance metrics). We save the final minutes of each session to connect with you. I download that day's data, share exactly which tailored interventions were successful, and hand off matching visual charts or routine builders so you can easily mirror that progress at home.
Where We Meet & ObserveTo ensure your child is in the most supportive environment for intervention success, data collection, and real-life practice, we utilize various community settings:
In-Home Support & Observation: Conducting direct observation and working in your family's space to build practical, real-world routines where behavioral triggers occur most naturally.
School & Community Environments: Observing your child in classroom, preschool, or community spaces to gather objective data on peer interactions, transitions, and focus barriers
.The Library Transition Zone: Meeting at neutral local hubs like the South Branch Library in Breckenridge or the Main Library in Frisco for a smooth "decompression zone" right after school before moving out into real-world practice
Online/Virtual Consulting: Primarily used for dedicated parent coaching, behavior plan adjustments, and comprehensive school evaluation reviews.
