About Colt

I started my teaching journey in 2015 when I moved to Japan and taught English to children for two years. I fell in love with teaching and knew that I wanted to be the best teacher I could be. I returned to California and worked hard to earn my Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with a 4.0. I learned the cutting edge teaching theories and got experience teaching college students and adults while getting my M.A. degree. After graduating, I moved to Chile and taught professors from University of Chile (Universidad de Chile) English to help them progress in their professional careers. I also taught English online during this time to children in China on the VIPKid platform. I have returned to California and am excited to help you reach your English goals in my classes.

Outside of class, I have many hobbies. I am interested in traveling, photography, music, playing my guitar, movies, cooking, hiking, snowboarding, and skate boarding.

About the lesson

I believe that people learn language best when they are relaxed and have the support they need to succeed. I will help you identify the areas of English that you need to improve in and provide personalized lessons to work on these skills. I use a variety of teaching techniques and methods to match your learning style and goals to ensure that you get the most out of our lessons.

My experience and education sets me apart from other tutors. I have lived abroad in Japan and Chile, so I know the struggles of learning and using a foreign language first hand. I have the training and theoretical knowledge to help you reach any English goals you have.
