About MIKE
I am a recently retired head of an independent school in South Africa. My teaching background is in English and French, and I've taught high school students for forty years. I recently completed a TEFL qualification. I'm looking forward to sharing my expertise in English at a range of levels!

I design my lessons around where my students are in terms of ability. I work with areas of interest and with texts and challenges at the appropriate level. I'd want my students to be curious, to ask questions, to reflect on their learning and to own the process. I enjoy a relaxed approach, with humor and a sense that they're in a safe place to make mistakes, learn from them and develop. For me, the greatest reward in teaching is watching students light up as they grasp new concepts, demonstrate new skills and create their own new knowledge.
