About Paige

Thank you for checking out my profile! My goal on the Superprof platform is to connect with students who are struggling with difficult courses at any level in high school, or at the first-year level in university. I graduated high school last year with a 94% overall average, despite a full course-load that included all major physics, chemistry, and mathematics courses available.

I moved on from there directly to the University of Waterloo, where in my first year I achieved a 91.2% overall average and a resulting GPA of 3.97 whilst completing difficult courses including two separate forms of mathematics, chemistry, and physics at an enhanced level.

Behind all of this is my love of the scientific method and of mathematical systems. Since I was small it has been a dream of mine to study mathematics, and I want to be able to share this passion with everyone I have the opportunity to tutor.

As a final note, in addition to my academic history, I have had experience in the past tutoring both peers and younger students, specifically in math but also in science. Passing on my knowledge is almost as fun for me as the work itself, and I will always take advantage of an opportunity to help. :)

It is my honest belief that anyone and everyone has the capacity to comprehend and solve mathematical and scientific problems at the highest level. Whether you're seeking help for only a single question, or seeking a wider understanding of a subject as a whole, my goal as a tutor is to not only discover how you are naturally inclined to approach a question, but how mathematical or scientific principles can be uniquely seen through a lens that best benefits your specific needs as a "tutee" (look it up!).

To be more specific, my goal is to discover how you like to learn, then help you to see how your strengths as a learner can benefit you as a student. For example, if you are inclined towards English or communications studies, conceptualising problems as analogical examples can lead to easier comprehension and digestion of complex numbers. If you are skilled at problem solving but poor with memorisation, lessons can focus primarily on the logic underlying formulaic thinking rather than the formulas themselves. If your skills lie outside the realms of traditional academia, or you are simply uncomfortable in the areas of mathematical or scientific thought, I am more than willing to assist you in building an understanding of the basics before moving on to more complicated aspects, no matter what level you feel comfortable with to start.

At the heart of any great relationship is communication, and this is as relevant to the tutor/student relationship as it is to any other. My goal is to listen to you, understand how you would prefer to learn, and assist you in building your skills from the ground up. I have nothing but passion and love for these subjects, and with a little hard work from both of us, I know I can help you discover these same feelings, while getting some wicked grades in the process.
