If I'm delivering a crash course style class, I'd normally give a quick overview of the paper and handle each section of the paper at a time. Give tips and tricks for papers as I explain what is required for each question. I also give model answers so they are able to see what a higher band answer looks like.
If I'm teaching generically, I would normally ask the students to complete a paper and then assess what they struggle on and organise my classes around that.
