Hello! I work well with students in grade levels 1-6th! Do be mindful that while in high school, I’m quite mature & versed in English Literature. Helped my younger brother (grade 6), & class assist!

About Risa

My name is Risa, I’m a teenager (soon to be Junior) in high school who occasionally helps my grandma by assisting her in the classroom with her younger group of students! My younger brother is in middle school, and I have no trouble helping him out as well. I love English as a subject, even in my free time I find literature so intriguing! I’ve always thrived in the subject from elementary to now, and don’t mind helping others do the same! I assure those who do consider me that I want everyone to feel comfortable and confident in their student's educational journey, and hopefully I can give helpful tips and advice along with my tutoring services!

I teach both the English subject in regards to education, as well as to those who wish for their child to learn English as a language!

My methods & technique generally include knowing what my students understand and have difficulty with first, that way I can put things into their perspective and make it easier for them to comprehend! I like to give students advice or little memorable tips to leave with and use in the classroom or in life! Since occasionally that helps me in school! Everyone, especially kids, all learn in their own ways! Something I personally liked in my elementary or middle school teachers was how some tried to personalize the experience with their students! Some kids prefer in-depth explanations, while others understandably need to be given smaller portions of content to eventually understand everything as a whole. Unlike some who don’t take the time to find out what’s troubling the student, I take my time & try to move them along without making them dependent on me or a parental guardian. I find that helping students along until they’re able to do great things on their own works well! But they should always feel like it’s a safe space to ask for help whenever. Encouraging their ways of thinking, encouraging them to ask questions, nurturing their mind & feelings is how I feel they can adapt and grow in both educational spaces and the real world! Since I always struggled with asking unprompted (even now in high school), I have no problem at all asking them if they need help, especially if they feel embarrassed at first. I prefer tutoring students in elementary, (at any level), as I have more experience & success among younger students, and this allows me to communicate more with their parents to see what helps them personally grow and understand the material, as well as what they struggle with. Until I feel comfortable enough traveling perhaps to a local library, I have an open window from 5-7pm (Weekdays) and 1-6pm (Weekends) to tutor! I understand that elementary or middle school (and different districts) hours differ from my own school days, but have no problem discussing further if anything needs to be adjusted! Overall, I want both the parents & the students to feel comfortable, respected, and supported!

If you wish to contact my grandmother (parental guardian), as my mother is often quite busy, you may do so using the contact information below!

If you wish to schedule tutoring sessions weekly or further, the price would be $50 a week, but I’d be fine lowering the pricing if discussed! Timing & scheduling as well as prices are somewhat negotiable, as I’d be glad to do $10-15 an hour depending on the student’s situation or difficulty on the subject! Behavioral issues must be considered, so during our first meeting or interview of sorts, I’d like to gauge their behavior to see if I’ll be able to help!

I understand the struggle when it comes to certain aspects of education, and have deep experience regarding difficulty learning, being in high school and once a kid myself. But English is a subject I’ve always succeeded in, so I want to make sure your child can too!
