My name is Virren, and my tutoring approach focuses on clarity, structure, and building genuine understanding rather than rote learning. I break down complex concepts into simple, logical steps and adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s learning pace. Lessons are interactive and problem-based, with a strong emphasis on exam-style questions, step-by-step worked solutions, and strategies to maximise marks in assessments.
A typical lesson runs for 60 minutes, allowing enough time to review content, practise questions, and address any areas of difficulty. I am a high-achieving VCE graduate with a strong background in Maths Methods, Chemistry, and Biology, and I enjoy helping students gain confidence in these subjects. My lessons are suitable for Year 10–12 students, particularly those studying VCE, whether they need help consolidating fundamentals or pushing towards higher performance.
Review
All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the students of Virren.
Perfect! Great communicator. Knows the subject well.
Perfect! Virren is our preferred tutor. He has excellent communication skills, and easily established rapport with our son. His feedback is prompt, thoughtful and strengths-based. He has excellent knowledge of Chemistry. Thank you very much!
- wanted to share some feedback following my recent tutoring session with Ben. He is a very bright student and has been able to grasp new concepts very quickly. He shows strong problem-solving ability and is great to work with.Virren's response :
As Ben did not study Chemistry in Year 10, he may be slightly behind on some foundational topics. However, this is completely manageable — I was in a similar position myself, and with consistent progress and structured learning, we can absolutely bridge any gaps as we continue working together.
I would really love to continue tutoring Ben and supporting his progress in Chemistry.

Another version, different angle and voice:
The connection: My parents booked sessions with Virren after my Methods grades started slipping mid-year — best decision they made for my studies.
Approach: Doesn't stick to a rigid script — picks up fast on what I'm actually confused about and adjusts the explanation on the spot instead of repeating the same method that isn't working.
A moment that stuck with me: I'd been guessing my way through electrochemical half-equations for weeks. Virren spent one session breaking down the logic behind oxidation and reduction instead of just handing me a formula to memorise, and it finally made sense.
Reliability: Always on time, always prepared, and followed up with practice questions between sessions so I wasn't starting from scratch each week.
The outcome: Went from dreading SACs to actually feeling ready for them.
Recommendation: If you want a tutor who treats your understanding as the goal rather than just getting through the syllabus, Virren is who I'd point you to.Background: Found Virren through Superprof last term after struggling to keep up in Methods and Chemistry class.
Teaching style: Explains concepts from the ground up rather than assuming prior knowledge — patient with repeated questions and never made me feel behind.
Standout session: Helped me work through combustion thermodynamics step-by-step when I couldn't make sense of my textbook at all; by the end I could redo the problems without help.
Communication: Always responded quickly to messages and adjusted sessions around what I actually needed that week, whether it was homework help or exam prep.
Results: My test scores went up and, more than that, I stopped feeling anxious walking into Chemistry class.
Why I'd recommend: Virren genuinely cares whether you understand the material, not just whether you finish the worksheet — that's rare and made a real difference for me.I started working with Virren last year when Methods and Chemistry both felt completely overwhelming, and honestly it turned things around for me. What stood out most was how Virren never rushed through a topic just to "cover" it — sessions on things like equilibrium constants or calculus problems always ended with me actually being able to solve similar questions on my own, not just copying steps. Before my Chemistry SAC I was panicking about energy density calculations for fuel cells, and Virren stayed calm, walked me through a few practice problems, and gave me a way to check my own working so I stopped second-guessing myself in the actual exam. I'd recommend Virren to anyone who wants a tutor that builds real confidence, not just quick fixes — my marks improved, but more importantly I stopped dreading those subjects.
How do you know each other?
Virren tutored me in VCE Chemistry and Maths Methods over the course of a semester, helping me prepare for both SACs and end-of-year exams.
What kind of Superprof is this person?
Patient, clear, and genuinely invested. Virren doesn't just give you the answer — they break down why a method works, whether it's balancing a redox half-equation or setting up a related rates problem, so it actually sticks for the exam.
Tell us about an experience you shared together.
I was completely stuck on electrochemical cells and calculating cell potentials before a SAC. Virren went through it step by step with worked examples until it clicked, and reviewed my practice exam responses afterwards with detailed feedback on where I was losing marks.
Why would you recommend this person to other Superprof members?
Virren makes hard topics feel manageable and takes the time to actually check you understand, not just move through content. I felt properly prepared going into both my Chemistry and Methods exams.View more recommendations
