About Tonya
I have been teaching for 25 years. I studied Spanish at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain and earned a Bachelor’s in Spanish from Ohio Wesleyan University. My passion for languages led me to the classroom to share with students hoping to incite that passion in them. This is why I am constantly looking for ways to keep my students excited about learning. Every summer I attend professional development courses so that I return to school ready to engage my high school students.

My lessons are engaging and fun. I use technology and try to meet students where they are by assessing their learning needs. I also employ a variety of teaching techniques to cover all the standards (listening, reading, writing and speaking). I try to make what the students are learning meaningful/relevant to them so that they can apply it to their lives. When they can do this it is easier for them to recall what they have learned and they are more successful.
