About Elinah
Hi! My name is Elinah, and I’m a high school freshman student who loves learning and helping others understand things that may seem difficult at first.
I’m currently taking advanced and honors-level classes, including AP Human Geography, Algebra 2, and courses through my school’s Health Professions & Therapies program. I enjoy challenging myself academically, but I also know that everyone learns differently.
Outside of school, I’m the Founder and Executive Director of Teen Med Spot, a youth-led organization focused on making healthcare education more accessible and raising awareness about rare diseases. Through Teen Med Spot, I’ve had experience leading volunteers, organizing educational projects, creating educational content, and communicating with students.
I’m excited to bring that same patience, organization, and enthusiasm into tutoring. Whether a student needs help understanding a math problem, practicing Spanish, or simply gaining more confidence in a subject, my goal is to help them understand the material rather than just memorize an answer.

I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are able to learn at their own pace. My goal is to make lessons simple, engaging, and easy to understand rather than just giving students the answers.
I break difficult concepts into smaller, easier steps.
I use examples and practice problems to help students understand how to apply what they learn.
I use positive encouragement to help students build confidence in subjects they may find difficult.
Quick check-in: Review what the student already knows and identify what they need help with.
Learn: Introduce or explain the topic using simple examples.
Practice together: Work through examples step-by-step with guidance.
Independent practice: Let the student try problems or activities on their own while I provide support when needed.
Review: Go over mistakes, answer questions, and summarize the main ideas from the lesson.
As a student myself, I understand that sometimes a concept can be explained in a way that makes it more confusing instead of less. I try to explain things in a way that is clear, relatable, and appropriate for the student's age and current level. I also want students to leave each lesson feeling like they understand the material better and are more confident in their ability to do it independently.
I offer tutoring for 3rd–8th grade students in:
Basic Math: arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, pre-algebra concepts, equations, and homework support.
Spanish: beginner Spanish, vocabulary, basic grammar, reading, writing, pronunciation, and introductory conversation.
My lessons are especially suited for students who want extra practice, need a concept explained in a different way, or would benefit from one-on-one support outside of class.
