About Emma
I graduated with honors from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in English and French. I also studied at the University of Provence, where I focused on literature and linguistics. Ever since graduating, I have pursued a parallel career path in teaching and editing. I have worked the last ten years with children as an educator, while also working steadily as a freelance editor. This allows me to pursue the two fields that bring me the most joy: education and working with children, and to actively engage my love of language and writing. I love teaching because it is always challenging, I am constantly learning and I adore working with kids. I have experience with children of all ages, and I also particularly have been drawn to and enjoy working with those with disabilities and special needs. I love my work, and I try above all else to fueling a passion for learning to all of my students.

Every student is unique. It is my job to find ways to make the material and the process accessible; I work to ensure I can actively engage and adapt to the individual style and needs of each student. I believe that it is vital to establish a rapport where students are comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and are given stimulating and varied tasks during the course of every lesson. I believe in positive reinforcement, setting high standards for my students and that I must always adapt and refine my approach as I am teaching so that I can determine the most effective methods.
