About Ifa

I am a highly experienced and qualified English teacher (PGCE with QTS). I have taught in various settings including mainstream, independent schools, SEND schools. I also offer 1:1 online tuition. I am passionate about inspiring young people to enjoy English and derive value and meaning from their studies. I consistently engage, inspire and develop excellence. As Head of Department I have also designed curriculums, individualised learning plans, moderated coursework and mocks. I am a passionate and dedicated English tutor with a proven track record of helping students achieve top GCSE results and grow in confidence. With a first-class degree in English Literature from Lancaster University, I bring a strong academic foundation to my teaching. About the lesson

Each lesson is personalised, engaging and productive. Regular feedback is a cornerstone of my teaching approach. I guide students in understanding mark schemes, mastering essay structures, and meeting exam requirements. All of my students have attained at least 2 grades above their predicted grade and some have even attained 3-4 grades higher. By identifying their strengths and areas for improvement, I work collaboratively with the student. I build confidence and foster growth. My patient, supportive, and flexible approach ensures that students feel comfortable and motivated to excel. My students range from KS3- A Level. I have extensive experience teaching across a variety of syllabuses, including : AQA, PEARSON EDEXCEL, IGCSE, IB, Functional Skills, and WJEC. I also teach home-schooling students. My approach has consistently proven effective in boosting exam grades, reducing anxiety, and increasing confidence. Beyond exam preparation, I focus on developing essential study skills such as organisation, planning, managing exam pressure and reflection, which are crucial for long-term academic success. As a Social, Emotional, Mental-Health Teacher (SEMH) I am able to adopt a therapeutic, child-centred approach to education. Subjects Taught: My lessons develop all four core elements (reading, writing, speaking, listening). In addition I support students with: KS3 English GCSE English Language and Literature A- Level Literature Essay Writing/ Creative Writing/ Transactional Writing Coursework Analysing Texts EFL (English as a Foreign Language) I speak Urdu and Hindi too.
