About Jenny
Secondary school teacher and university lecturer, with over 40 years experience in private tutoring (English, French, Latin, Ancient Greek, Classics) for exams or personal interest. Having spent many years living and working in French-speaking countries, I offer lessons through the medium of French or English, online or face to face in north-east England. I have served as an examiner for various boards at secondary and university level. A published author on ancient manuscripts, I teach classical languages as well as English language and literature, and French as a foreign language. I am a highly organised person with excellent communication skills.

I work with students to identify their personal strengths in order to improve grades and achieve their potential. For language (Latin, Greek, French) lessons, I have devised tools for acquiring a secure grasp of grammar quickly and easily, and explain techniques for efficient vocabulary learning. I aim to teach from texts as much as possible from the beginning. For literature subjects, I work with the student to engage at a meaningful level with the texts, setting them in their social and historical context. I always bring creativity and a sense of humour to whatever I do. I instinctively seek to communicate my positive and optimistic outlook to the students I teach. Feedback has been consistently and warmly positive.
