I approach each topic as a conversation that can be had inside and outside of the classroom. I avoid constraining socio-historic topics to examination and instead encourage them to discussed in the same manner one does their personal interests. This pushes children to subconsciously absorb them into their general knowledge which I have found has more longevity than other teaching methods.
