About Cheryl
I graduated cum laude with my B.A. in history and plan to finish my Masters and single-subject teaching credential. Currently, I work for a private company, traveling to different elementary schools throughout California to facilitate learning and a love of history in accordance with the state's fourth, fifth, and sixth grade curriculum.

I find the best way to instill a love and understanding of history for students is to try to make it come alive and make it personal. Using social history, and sometimes literature of the time, helps to give context to big events. Understanding the who people were and what they valued helps to create a greater connection between events that can often seem disconnected. Asking "why" instead of only "what" and "when" is crucial to a greater understanding of history.
