About Shelby
I am a second-year history student at University College London, with particular interests in the history of empire, race and gender, although I have a strong knowledge base for other historical periods and themes. I have previously tutored A-level students and have received positive reviews.

I teach history with a two-pronged focus, catered to the level and board of examination, and the student's own strengths and weaknesses. I work on memorisation with students using the "splurge method", which is a way to physically track memorisation, and I also use an interactive method based on the "Heads Up" party game. Most students require help with essay writing, and I often dedicate whole sessions to understanding introductions and conclusions, and quite what everyone means when they demand you use the PEE method!
