About Serena
English has been my lifelong passion and playground. Over the years, I’ve contributed to anthologies and magazines, writing poetry, essays, research pieces, and zines. I’m in love with reading and yes, speed reading is my secret superpower! All this is not to brag, but to show how English lends itself to creativity and gives multiple avenues to express yourself. I believe English isn’t just a subject; it’s a universe of ideas, stories, and opportunities. My goal is to help students see its versatility. Whether it’s creative expression, business communication, or academic writing and fall in love with it instead of fearing it just because it’s not their first language. I also work with students who already love fiction but now want to master the “other side” of English - corporate, academic, or technical; without losing the joy of the language. My classes blend creativity with structure, so you learn the rules and how to break them effectively.

My strong IELTS performance (Band 8.5 overall, with [Listening 8.5, Reading 9, Writing 7.5, Speaking 8.5]) and experience as an editor and guest speaker have equipped me with a clear understanding of how to communicate ideas effectively.
I know the challenges learners face when aiming for top-level English skills — because I’ve been through the process myself and developed methods that actually work.
My approach combines practical strategies, clear explanations, and targeted practice, ensuring students gain not just theoretical knowledge but also confidence in applying it.
For IELTS preparation, I focus on:
Listening & Reading – developing keyword recognition, time management, and prediction skills.
Writing – enhancing clarity, structure, and vocabulary while meeting exam criteria.
Speaking – building fluency, pronunciation, and comfort with a range of topics.
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up, followed by focused exercises, and ends with specific feedback and next steps. I aim to make learning interactive, relatable, and tailored to each learner’s goals.
I work with high school and university students, professionals, and adult learners who want to:
Prepare for IELTS or other English exams
Improve writing and communication skills for academic or work purposes
Gain confidence in speaking and presentations
