About Lara

Hi, this is Lara! I'm an electronics engineer with a Master’s in Project Management from the University of Auckland, currently working as an IT Project Manager. I’m also a passionate tutor who loves helping students learn in a way that speaks to how they learn best. I specialize in English, Math, Physics, and Biology for NCEA, Cambridge, and IELTS prep. With an IELTS speaking score of 9 and years of mentoring experience, I’m confident in breaking down tricky topics and building students’ understanding and confidence. My lessons are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s goals; be it boosting grades, improving exam technique, or making sense of subjects that feel overwhelming.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on building both understanding and confidence in my students. My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and student-led. Each session is tailored to your needs, whether you're revising core concepts, preparing for exams, or aiming to deepen subject knowledge.

I use a mix of:

1. Clear explanations using real-world examples and practical applications
2. Active questioning to strengthen problem-solving and logical thinking
3. Structured approaches to tackling word problems and proofs
4. Step-by-step methods for solving equations, functions, and geometry problems to build strong conceptual understanding and calculation skills
5. Interactive exercises, visuals, and timed practice to boost exam confidence
6. Memorization techniques and concept mapping to help retain formulas, theorems, and mathematical concepts

I am an electronics engineer and hold a Master’s degree in Project Management from the University of Auckland. My background allows me to bring a practical and organized approach to tutoring!

My lessons are open to:

- School and high school students (all levels, NCEA/Cambridge)
- Anyone seeking structured, relatable, and effective support

Whether you're aiming for top grades, clearer writing, or exam readiness, I’d love to help you learn in a way that makes sense and supports your growth. :)
