About Krish

Hi, I'm Krish! I'm an Imperial College London PhD researcher and an experienced Maths and Science tutor. I've been tutoring since 2019, helping over 50 students develop their confidence, strengthen their understanding and achieve results they're proud of.

My approach to tutoring is simple: understanding a subject is important, but knowing how to apply that understanding is what makes the difference in exams.

Many students know their scientific facts, formulas and methods but struggle when they're presented with an unfamiliar question. That's where I focus much of my teaching: helping students think independently, recognise connections between different concepts and develop the problem-solving skills they need to tackle challenging questions with confidence.

A little about my background:

- PhD researcher in Immunology at Imperial College London
- MSc in Immunology from Imperial College London
- First-Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science
- Tutoring experience across GCSE and A-Level Maths and Science since 2019
- Experience teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics, including GCSE Combined Science and Separate Sciences
- Experience with AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards, including GCSE Foundation and Higher tiers

Alongside tutoring, my academic research involves investigating the immune system in asthma and respiratory disease. My scientific background spans Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and I enjoy helping students understand how the different sciences connect rather than treating them as entirely separate subjects.

Having studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics at A-Level myself, I also understand the challenges students face when learning multiple demanding subjects and preparing for exams.

What results have my students achieved?

I'm particularly proud of the progress my students have made, both academically and in their confidence. Many have exceeded their predicted grades, with students achieving grades 8–9 at GCSE and A/A* at A-Level. I've also supported students who have gone on to study Medicine or attend leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London.

But success isn't always about achieving a grade 9 or A*. For some students, it's moving from struggling with the basics to confidently passing their exams. For others, it's developing the skills needed to move from a good grade to an exceptional one.

What makes my tutoring different?

I don't believe in simply showing students how to answer a question and asking them to memorise the steps. I want them to understand why scientific principles work, how different concepts connect, when to apply particular methods and how to adapt their knowledge when a question looks unfamiliar.

Whether it's understanding biological processes, balancing chemical equations or solving calculations in Physics, I aim to develop the same underlying skills: understanding, logical thinking and independent problem-solving.

I also recognise that every student learns differently. I've worked with students of varying abilities, including those with dyslexia, exam anxiety or low confidence. I take a patient, supportive and adaptable approach, making sure students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Above all, I want my students to become confident, independent learners who eventually need less help from me, not more.

Whether you're looking to rebuild your confidence in Science, improve your exam technique or push towards the highest grades, I'd be delighted to help.

Feel free to send me a message to discuss your goals or arrange a free introductory consultation!

My lessons are designed to help students do more than just memorise scientific facts and formulas. I want them to understand Science, develop confidence and become independent problem-solvers.

One of the biggest challenges students face at GCSE and A-Level is applying familiar scientific concepts to unfamiliar questions. Whether it's interpreting experimental data in Biology, applying chemical principles or solving multi-step calculations in Physics, it's something I place particular emphasis on in my teaching.

What can you expect from my lessons?

1. Personalised learning

We'll identify your strengths, the topics you're struggling with and what you want to achieve. Whether you're working towards a passing grade or aiming for an 8, 9 or A*, lessons will be adapted to your ability, pace and goals.

For students studying Combined Science, we can divide our time between Biology, Chemistry and Physics depending on where you need the most support.

2. Clear explanations and understanding

I'll break difficult scientific concepts into manageable steps, using different explanations, diagrams and examples until they make sense. I encourage questions and make sure students understand why something works rather than simply memorising a method or definition.

3. Developing problem-solving skills

We'll work through increasingly challenging questions, focusing on how to approach unfamiliar problems, identify useful information and select appropriate scientific knowledge or methods.

This might involve interpreting biological data, applying chemical equations, designing experiments or working through multi-step Physics calculations. My aim is to help you become confident tackling questions independently.

4. Exam technique and preparation

We'll practise exam-style and past-paper questions relevant to your exam board, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR. We'll also work on interpreting command words, structuring longer answers, tackling calculations, understanding required practicals, avoiding common mistakes and recognising what examiners are looking for.

5. Feedback and independent practice

I'll regularly assess your understanding and provide constructive feedback. Where useful, I'll also suggest targeted practice between lessons to reinforce what we've covered without overwhelming you with homework.

Who do I teach?

- KS3 Science — Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- GCSE Combined Science — Foundation and Higher
- GCSE Separate Sciences — Biology, Chemistry and Physics
