About Stefan
Hi! I'm a recent graduate from the University of Durham with a first class masters (MPhys) in Physics. My interests lie in quantum physics and I am due to start a PhD at Imperial College London in September focused on using molecules combined with quantum optics techniques to measure the shape of the electron to unprecedented precision!
I am new to Superprof but have more than four years experience working as an A Level volunteer tutor as part of the community engagement program at Durham. As well as tutoring throughout my degree I have also returned to my former primary and secondary schools tutoring maths and science after school in small classes. I have taken courses in Safeguarding and Child Well-being.
I achieved three A* at A level in Physics, Chemistry and Maths and have a proven track record of achieving highly throughout my degree, averaging 80% and being awarded the 'Physics Award for Outstanding Achievement'. Aside from academics I've enjoyed playing the piano for the past 12 years as well as a weekly hit-about on the tennis court with my younger brother.
I am able to tutor online for GCSE and A Level Physics and Maths.

My teaching methodology often depends on the individual students needs and is very much tailored towards their aims, learning style as well as which topics they find most challenging. I like to start off by gauging which topics they like and which areas of the course they feel are more troubling.
From personal experience as well as feedback from tutees, I find doing past papers and practicing questions the most useful. I fell it helps students engage with the material to really consolidate their knowledge. I do not however shy away from breaking down a topic and explaining it step by step. I think it's useful to hear the same topic explained in different ways by both their teacher and a tutor.
I like to use plenty of analogies, videos and demonstrations when explaining a topic. It helps make it more memorable and engaging. Physics and maths are fun and should come across as such!
